Metglas Among the Winners of 2019 Annual R&D 100 Awards
The R&D 100 Award was established for recognition of exceptional new products that were developed and introduced into the market during the year. Metglas, along with the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) and Carnegie Mellon University won an R&D 100 award for one of the top 100 innovative technologies developed in 2019.
The winning technologies are described below:
Cobalt-based nanocrystalline alloys processed through in-line strain annealing produce inductors, sensors and other electrical devices with unprecedented electromagnetic capabilities for next-generation power technologies, improving performance, boosting efficiency and reducing temperature. This market-ready product links atomic-level changes to grid-scale impacts by customizing magnetic properties for a broad range of electrical applications.
Due to our unique prototype casting cabalilities and ability to scale up rapidly, Metglas succesfully supported this program.
This award program was established back in the early 1960s and Metglas®, Inc. is proud to be one of the 2019 winners.
