Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC, is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern.

The key to Metglas Inc.’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced CNC Manufacturing Production Manager to oversee daily operations in our busy 24/7 manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in the use of various manufacturing tools and technologies. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring production efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and leading a team of skilled workers to achieve operational goals.

Duties:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of shop personnel to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.
  • Monitor the operation of CNC machines, including Fanuc systems, ensuring proper setup and maintenance.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols within the shop to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Utilize logic controllers to troubleshoot equipment issues and optimize machine performance.
  • Conduct inspections using calipers and other measuring tools to ensure products meet quality specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams using SolidWorks for product design improvements and modifications.
  • Train new employees on shop procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of production metrics and report on performance to upper management.
  • Ensure compliance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Facilitate communication between departments to streamline operations and resolve any production challenges.
  • *We are a 24/7 operation. You must be reachable and able to work on days, nights, overnights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as/if/when needed.

Experience & Education:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes, including techniques.
  • Familiarity with logic controllers and their application in manufacturing settings is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using calipers and other precision measurement tools is required.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software for design purposes is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of GD&T principles is beneficial for maintaining product quality standards.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Lathe and grinder experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field.
