Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC, is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas Inc.’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.
We are currently hiring for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Leader.
Responsibilities of Position:
- Responsible for the overall management and technical leadership of the environmental, health, and safety function in the Conway, SC Metglas facility and provide technical assistance to overseas plants.
- Acts independently, with administrative and fiscal direction from the HR Manager and President & COO.
- Develops, recommends and implements practical functional approaches to resolve important EHS issues in support of business unit strategies for achieving customer satisfaction and assuring regulatory and policy compliance.
- Assures integration of EHS requirements with company vision and values.
- Actively supports growth through permitting processes.
- Works with other functional leaders to integrate EHS into other functional efforts.
- Actively leads employee teams for continuous improvement of EHS goals.
Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:
- Has knowledge of health, safety and environmental theories, process practices, and regulations.
- Demonstrated decision making skills in a Total quality environment using six sigma tools.
- Ability to communicate and implement various HS&EQ initiatives and issues at various levels of the organization.
- Ability to recognize strategic opportunities and focus HS&EQ resources to meet critical business needs.
- Understanding of organizational dynamics and exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of workers compensation strategies.
- Familiarity of TSCA requirements and MSDS formulation.
- Strong program and budget management skills.
- STRONG EXPERIENCE SPECIFICALLY IN ENVIRONMENTAL
- CAOHC (hearing conservationist to do hearing testing) a plus.
- Experience & familiarity with Form R, RCRA, DOT Hazmat, Tier II, Air Permitting Title V, Respirator fit testing, OSHA certification, Hazwoper, Training experience, Industrial Hygiene testing, HSE procedure writing, LOTO, Confined Space, SDS, REACH, RoHS, PPE assessments, and production experience preferred.
- Must be available by phone and/or onsite as needed 24/7 for emergencies.
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
- Knowledge of managing and resolving workers compensation cases.
- Proven ability to drive safety culture and deployment of behavioral safety programs.
- Possess a BS degree and 5+ years demonstrated progressive experience in either safety engineering, environmental, industrial hygiene or related science.
